The evidence of a very wide aromatic diversity of citrus fruits of the Papeda group (originating from China and tropical Asia) which could feed projects of exploitation of this diversity for the industry of food flavours and cosmetics or by the creation of new fragrances by carrying out crossings between varieties and exotic species.

This work is the result of a collaboration between the UMR AGAP institute Corsica and the MANE company, the first French fragrance and flavor industry, whose headquarter is based in Bar sur Loup. This work combines DNA analysis to elucidate the genetic origin of a little-known citrus fruit (Ichang lemon) and the chemical analysis of aromatic compounds conferring exotic notes with potential interest for industry.

The ERDF Cavalbio project aims to the creation of new citrus and yams varieties in Guadeloupe. It involves, within the Agap joint unit, the Citrus evolution, polyploidy and breeding (SEAPAG) and Genome and selection (GS) teams. It now has its own website.
